The reason why I love this film is mostly becuase of director Shane Meadows.
This british guy has a very sharp perspective on issues.
The movie Dead Man's Shoes hit me first like a fable of Cain and Abel,in the bible.
But it kind of turns another way to explore the relationship between the two brothers, but I think it does have something to do with the fable.

The story revolves around the character of Richard, returning to his small home town to exact revenge on his mentally disabled younger brother Anthony's tormentors. 
In the opening line of the film, Richard narrates: "God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven. I can't live with that."

Anthony was not directly, but accidentally killed by a troop of villain of the town. They made fun of Anthony's illness, gave him drugs, and abandom him in a abandomed farmhouse.
Anthony hung himself.

But we knew the truth at the very ending. Because in the movie, Anthony accompanied Richard all the way. 
Is it a ghost or and illusion of Richard？We don't know. But I really like this design in the film.

The Villian are terrified by Richard's return. Though Anthony passed away for years, it kind of became a scar in their minds. They keep remembering the day the bully him.
I think they regret it. So they do little to avoid Richard's revenge.

Richard killed them in horrified ways. But the fact is, the audience can understand his pain. In the end, he asked the last guy to kill him in the same farmhouse Anthony was killed. 
After the killing, The shocking guy walked out of the farmhouse, the sun is shining, England is so fucking beautiful. And I cried.

我之所以認為這個故事仍然和該隱與亞伯的故事有關，是因為身為哥哥的該隱因為嫉妒殺了弟弟亞伯，被神逐出家園，一生背負著愧疚。

而電影裡的哥哥為弟弟復仇，最後死於敵人的手中。

我覺得這兩者是有關聯性的。  電影的積極報仇，也因此充滿悲劇性。

因為你會發現，其實沒有一個人是壞人, and no one should be blamed, but they are all gone.
